Surround Yourself with Beauty
About Attribute Fine Art Services
Attribute Fine Art Services (AFAS) is owned and operated by Theresa Sickler, a lifelong admirer of art, history, and the quiet beauty found in nature. Her work is rooted in a simple belief: art enriches our lives, tells our stories, and brings beauty into the spaces we cherish most.
A Life Shaped by Art
Theresa was born and raised in northeast Kansas, where her love for art first took shape in high school and continued to grow throughout her studies at the University of Kansas. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History, beginning her education on a fine arts scholarship before discovering her true passion—understanding the history, meaning, and business of art.
During college, Theresa worked at a local gallery where she researched and valued works by Albert Bloch, a member of Der Blaue Reiter (“The Blue Rider”) group and an influential KU art educator. This experience opened the door to the world of art valuation and deepened her appreciation for the lineage of artists, their stories, and the connections that bind them. It was here that Theresa realized how much she loved helping people bring meaningful artwork—and the history behind it—into their homes.
Professional Experience Across the Art World
After graduating, Theresa moved to Saint Augustine, Florida, where she spent nearly eight years as a fine art consultant and gallery director in the city’s historic district. She guided clients in building collections featuring local, national, and international artists, often working directly with the artists themselves. She helped prepare and host monthly exhibitions, gained hands‑on experience with large‑scale art events, and even served as a muse for a plein‑air portrait—an unforgettable moment in her journey.
Returning to the Midwest, Theresa expanded her understanding of the charitable side of the arts by pursuing graduate studies in philanthropy and volunteering at a local art museum. Her work in membership and fundraising offered a behind‑the‑scenes look at how museums preserve, educate, and inspire.
She later earned a second graduate degree in communication management and began a career in the Federal government, gaining extensive experience in communications and executive administration—skills that now strengthen her work with clients.
A Return to Her Passion
Even as her career evolved, Theresa never lost her desire to help people discover artwork that speaks to them. After moving back to the warm coastal South, she completed 24 courses in appraisal studies with the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), gaining valuable knowledge in the legal and valuation aspects of fine art.
Today, Theresa lives in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She continues her full‑time work in the Federal government, but in the evenings and on weekends, she pursues her lifelong calling: helping people navigate the art world, curate meaningful collections, and surround themselves with beauty.
